'Tis The Season Bagel

'Tis The Season Bagel

Oh my goodness, could it be that my favorite time of the year is here already?! Not sure who's more excited about Christmas this year - my daughter or me. Christmas season brings out the little kid in me. I just can't help it!

I love everything about it – decorating the house and tree, getting together with friends to celebrate the season, listening to Christmas music non-stop, watching all the classic Christmas movies, making Pfeffernüsse cookies, and finally watching my daughter tear open her gifts on Christmas morning. Yeah! But nothing brings me more joy than making this a special time for my little one and creating great memories and traditions for her.

And just in time for the cold weather and all the festivities, comes also the urge to eat comfort food and lots of cookies – all leading up to the grand finale feast on Christmas day. Well, I've got just the thing to get you started!

Don't worry, it's just a bagel. And a healthy one, on top of that. I love bagels! This may sound totally crazy to you, but I had never tasted one until the Summer of '95, when I first visited the U.S. Oh my, where had these little heavenly breads been all my life?!

Bagels have the tendency to sometimes leave you feeling like you just ate a brick. So to keep this light, I chose a multi-grain bagel for the complex carbs. I prefer to use goat cheese here, too, mainly because it has fewer calories (than cream cheese, for example) and it is rich in essential nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin B, riboflavin, calcium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium. Plus it's also much easier to digest than cow's milk. So, no bloat at the end of the day my friends. Enjoy!
